18th century oak and ornamental veneered geometric cupboard

This is an unusual and extremely rare model of geometric cupboard. The piece is in 2 parts and is made of oak. Ornamental veneers of kingwood, walnut and fruit wood are within the geometric panels. The top section has a single long drawer on side runners above a cupboard with two doors. The lower section has a cupboard accessed by a central door flanked by panels with decorative punch work. The storage areas are usefully proportioned. An exceptional piece of furniture with a lovely golden oak colour. A comparable example from Tredegar House, Wales is illustrated by Richard Bebb in: Welsh Furniture 1250 – 1950, volume 1 page 266.
