2 items of late 18th / early 19th century domestic iron ware
A Donegal bread iron or harnen [hardening] stand. This item is usually known as an oatcake warmer. It was used to slowly dry, rather than bake, a traditional bannock of oat bread locally referred to as “moon and stars” due to it’s rather crumbly consistency.
A salamander with fancy handle
Provenance: both pieces come from the Richard Kingston Collection
Both articles are sold
